Warriors fall in tight Game 5

Marc Smith/DiscoverMooseJaw

The Moose Jaw Warriors outshot Swift Current 36-24 but couldn’t find the back of the net and fell 2-0 to the Swift Current Broncos in a hard fought battle at Mosaic Place on Friday.

The Warriors had plenty of energy to start the period as they pushed to the Swift Current.  They had six minutes of power play time in the first nine minutes, they created chances but unfortunately weren’t able to drive the puck over the goal line.

Getting to the four minute mark of the period the Broncos let a shot go from the Warriors left line, Kaden Elder was able to get a piece of it to deflect it in and give Swift Current a 1-0 lead.

In the second period the Warriors applied more pressure as they outshot the Broncos 10-4 in the period and hit two posts but they couldn’t find the back of the net and trailed by one heading to the third period.

Again in the third period the Warriors put rubber towards the Bronco net but just couldn’t slide the puck over the goal line.

Swift Current picked up an insurance goal midway through the third period and went on to the 2-0 Game 5 win and now have a 3-2 series lead heading to Saturday’s Game 6.
