Warriors Announce True Warriors Campaign & Jersey
The Moose Jaw Warriors have unveiled their “True Warriors” Cancer awareness jersey. The jerseys will be worn at select Warriors home games throughout October and November and then auctioned off with proceeds going to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation.
“This project is something that we wanted to bring all Warriors fans together who have been affected by Cancer,” commented Warriors Director, Business Operations Corey Nyhagen. “It is a way to remember the lives of those we have lost, celebrate those who have beaten this disease, and support those who are still fighting.”
This also marks the beginning of an initiative that will see Moose Jaw Warrior Josh Thrower lead several visits to the Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital to spend time with staff and patients.
“My family has unfortunately been through several battles with this horrible disease. Both my parents are cancer survivors, however I lost my grandma and more recently my uncle to this disease. Being able to be a part of a program that can help others in their fight is one that myself and my teammates take seriously and are willing to do anything we can to help,” Warriors defenseman Josh Thrower.
“Thank you Moose Jaw Warriors for helping the medical professionals at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital assist patients in their battle with cancer. You are not only raising funds, but awareness of how cancer touches the lives of those we care about and how we as a community can stand together to fight this deadly disease,” commented Moose Jaw Health Foundation Executive Director Kelly McElree.
“For 30 years the Moose Jaw Health Foundation has been inspiring people to support healthcare; and the True Warriors campaign continues this spirit by bringing the community together to support cancer patients,” added McElree. “By having Moose Jaw Warrior Josh Thrower lead several visits at our hospital, this will lift and inspire patients when they need it the most.”
Fans will be given the opportunity to nominate names during the month of September of those touched by cancer, either currently battling, survivors, and those lost to cancer. Each name nomination is $30 and names submitted will have the opportunity to go on the True Warriors Jersey (see rules for more details). There will also be an option to purchase a limited edition signed Josh Thrower replica jersey.
All names nominated will be featured on a “True Warriors T-Shirt” and every form filled out will receive the special edition shirt to commemorate the campaign and a game ticket to the October 28th game. Nomination forms are available at the Warriors Office and at www.mjwarriors.com. Nomination forms need to be dropped off at the Warriors Office by Tuesday, September 20th.
