Series tied at one

Marc Smith/DiscoverMooseJaw

On a night where hockey was second and all thoughts were with the Humboldt Broncos and their families, the Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos took to the ice Saturday at Mosaic Place and started the night by coming together for an emotional pregame ceremony.

Early in the first period the Warriors had their opportunities on the Swift Current net as they did a good job getting inside home plate but they weren’t able to convert.

Swift Current on the other hand used their dangerous power play to open the scoring at 13:08 when Glenn Gawdin put the puck in after taking a pass at the left goal line.

Again the Warriors had a good start to the period as they looked to push the puck to the Swift Current net but unfortunately as the period went on they had a tough time generating a consistent attack.

Swift Current however extended their lead to 3-0 after picking up goals from Giorgio Estephan and Tyler Steenbergen.

In the third period the Warriors weren’t able to claw their way back in to the game while the Broncos added a late empty net goal to pick up the Game 2 4-0 win.

With this series now tied at one the Warriors will head to Swift Current for Game’s 3 and 4 coming up Tuesday and Wednesday.  Catch all the action on Country 100 starting with the Westrum Lumber Timber Mart PreGame show at 6:40pm.
