Brook named Warriors Captain, Langan & Almeida named Alternates
The Moose Jaw Warriors have announced that 19-year-old defenceman Josh Brook has been named the 32nd Captain in franchise history. As well, 19-year-old Justin Almeida and 20-year-old Tristin Langan have been named Alternate Captains.
Brook was selected by the Warriors with the 4th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and is entering his fourth WHL season. In 145 games with the Warriors he has 15 goals, 67 assists, and 82 points and in 31 career playoff games, he has four goals, 14 assists, and 18 points.
The Roblin, Manitoba product was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2nd round, 56th overall, at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. On September 21st he signed an NHL Entry-Level contract with the Canadiens.
Langan, a product of Swan River, Manitoba, was selected by the Warriors in the 9th round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Last year he posted career highs in goals, assists, and points finishing the season with 16 goals, 26 assists, and 42 points.
The 20-year-old is entering his final season in the WHL and has played in 175 games and has 25 goals, 47 assists, and 72 points.
Almeida was originally selected by the Prince George Cougars with the 5th overall pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft and was acquired by the Warriors midway through the 2016-2017 season. Last year Almeida finished third in team scoring with 43 goals, 55 assists, and 98 points.
In 193 career WHL games, Almeida has 57 goals, 76 assists, and 133 points and his hard work was rewarded earlier this year when the Pittsburgh Penguins selected him in the 5th round, 129th overall, at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
